Jackson Kids “JAM” with the Pistons

Dear Friends and Neighbors:

United Way of Jackson County and the Detroit Pistons “went to work” to help Jackson County kids have a Thanksgiving they’ll never forget.  Nearly 150 Jackson County youth, from ages 5 to 15, participated in the second annual Citizens Bank Jackson Basketball Jam for Kids. The fun-filled event included an hour and a half hoops clinic for Jackson kids on the court at the Palace, high fives between kids and Pistons players, and a satisfying 104 to 95 victory by the Pistons over the Charlotte Bobcats.

I am thrilled that we could send so many deserving kids to the clinic and the game.  Everyone had a great time, but it was really special to see how excited the kids were to be on the Pistons home court, and how much enjoyment they got from the clinic, the fan tunnels and the game.

None of this would have been possible without the support of our many sponsors, including Citizens Bank, Jackson County Education Association, Production Engineering, R.W. Mercer Company, Wendy’s, CP Federal Credit Union, Walton Agency, Abbott Thompson and Beer, P.L.C., Blue Cross Blue Shield, Polly’s, Technical Consultants Group, Absolute Internet and The Protection Center.

Plans are underway to look at additional partnerships and events with the Pistons.  Please contact me at the United Way of Jackson County, 784-0511, if you would be interested in “going to work” to on our next JAM.

Thanks for your support,
